After bringing a bit of the West End to St Albans with Sister Act, the NODA awarding winning St Albans Musical Theatre Company, SAMTC (formerly St Albans Operatic Society) are now proud to present their new Production of the award winning show “West Side Story”.

They have a reputation for putting on great shows like Grease, Hairspray and Sister Act, the bigger the better and West Side Story is no exception, from large casts, glorious sets and sumptuous costumes they’re always worth watching.

West Side Story is one of the most iconic musicals ever written, having stood the test of time for decades. Telling the story of Romeo and Juliet but set in the midst of the teenage gang wars of New York’s west side in the 1950’s, this musical has dark themes, large dance sections and complex music. It features songs including ‘America’, ‘One Hand, One Heart’, ‘I Feel Pretty’ and ‘Somewhere’.

Based on a conception of JEROME ROBBINS Book by ARTHUR LAURENTS, Music by LEONARD BERNSTEIN, Lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM. Entire original production directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Originally produced on Broadway by Robert E. Griffith & Harold Prince by arrangement with Roger L. Stevens.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with JOSEF WEINBERGER LTD. on behalf of MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL of NEW YORK
